Okay this needs explanation! Erica's uncle was the host of our evening including the best Italian food I've ever had at what turned out to be a gay restaurant in Greenwich Village. He very generously picked up the entire tab for our large group and then took us on a walking tour of Greenwich culminating with a stop at the Magnolia Bakery of Sex and the City fame. Well, he had, shall we say, very, very colorful language and an over-the-top personality so it was an interesting and fun evening with him serving as emcee. I stayed near him (I was the chaperone after all) and tried every way I could to "distract" him including dancing around the park across from Magnolia's while we ate our bakery goodies! He was a real hoot!
Evening topped off with a tour of Greenwich Village and a stop-off at The Magnolia Bakery compliments of Erica's uncle.
My favorite quote from that week in NYC was made by Eric Johnson while standing in the lower floor of the United Nations preparing to go in to the General Assembly. He observed some slovenly dressed male college "delegates" in tennis shoes as he stood there looking quite GQ. He commented - "Nothing should interrupt the line of a good suit."
Love it - Never Forgot It!
